Runflat systems
are tyre systems that keep a tyre functioning to drive a car safely at a
specified speed
for a specified distance after a loss of tyre pressure.
(Runflat tyres continue to operate safely at a speed of up to 80
kilometres per hour for a distance of
up to 80 kilometres after losing pressure under normal conditions at
0kPa air pressure.)
-
You no longer
need to replace a tyre even if a sudden loss of pressure occurs.
-
Runflat tyres
allow for using vehicle space more efficiently by eliminating the
need for a spare tyre.
-
Bridgestone
runflat tyres and systems do not need any special wheels and are
compatible with standard wheels.
-
A wide range
of car types such as cars for special use, for commuting and for
disabled people are supported
with the features include sidewall-reinforced RFTs.

RFT
(Sidewall-reinforcement runflat tyre)
Reinforced sidewalls enable RFT to support
the load of the vehicle safely even after
a loss of tyre pressure. This system is best
suited for cars with a lower aspect ratio
tyres, such as sport-utility vehicles.
Support Ring
(Support ring-type runflat systems)
In case of air loss, a core ring supports a
vehicle and fixes the tyre bead on the rim.
This system is especially suited for
passenger cars or SUVs with a higher
aspect ratio tyres. The support ring can be
reused, subject to usage conditions, and
it is suited to use on summer tyres
as well as winter tyres.
